Dear Sir, Thank you for replying my earlier post. Well after doing a lot of thinking I have short-listed two LCDs Sony KLV-32W400A (retail @ 65k) & Samsung LA37A550P1 (retail @ 72k max. I can afford) both are full HD but the one from Samsung is a 37 inch (bigger is always better, is not it?) though I do not want to compromise with the picture quality. Sony and Samsung both being reputed brands, produce quality products. While internationally they have an alliance for manufacturing LCD Panels. So rest assure about picture quality. So he we would suggest you to take demo of models finalized to check their performance and then choose one which gives you better value for money.

Bluestar - Super Deluxe WAE181YA is good air conditioner with better energy efficiency, but its recent reports are not encouraging. You have other equally good choices like -Vertis Elite 1.5 Ton, Whirlpool-WAWR18G30, Samsung-AWT18WKE and LG-LWA18G2DFH1 with EER above 9.5. While 1.5 ton models from Hitachi, O general and Carrier (Estrella) have models with better EER, but are on expensive side.

Currently Samsung CE1031LFB is not available. You can check the other three similar models available CE1031LATB, CE1031LAT and CE1031L. Difference between CE1031LATB and CE1031LAT is the exterior colour. CE1031L has auto defrost whereas, the other two have power defrost.

Here are some basic and general things you can keep in mind: Install the indoor unit on the wall which is away form direct sunlight. Keep the outdoor unit in a shady place. Be sure your air conditioner is not blocked. Filters should be checked and cleaned regularly. When the air conditioner is operational, make sure the doors and windows closed. If you find the cooling not upto the mark get it checked.

The specification document of Compaq Presario C733TU says it has "FreeDos" operating system. Can you please clarify what does this mean? Also, wont it be XP compatible? Becuse there are some Lenovo models which come with Vista OS and cannot support XP. by c4chinmaya

FreeDOS is a free Disk Operating System, it is some what similar to MS DOS. The reason why you won't be able to install Windows XP on the Compaq Presario C733TU or any other laptops which comes pre-installed with Windows Vista is the unavailability of Windows XP compatible drivers for these laptops. However you will be able to install Windows Vista on the Compaq Presario C733TU as Windows Vista compatible device drivers are available for this laptop. -Sharon Lobo

I am planning to buy an LCD TV. But I am not able to decide whether to go in for 32 inches or a 26 inches TV. My room size is quite small 15 by 15 feet and my viewing distance would be approximately 12 feet. People are warning me that I may develop headache and eye strain and I am not be able to watch for more than 30 minutes continuously since the larger images may affect the eyes. I want to either purchase the Sony 32 W series or the Samsung 32 Six series. Which is better in terms of price looks and performance? Or if you feel that 26 inches will be better, shall I go in for the Samsung 26 A450 C1? And is it true that full HD 1080*1020 resolution TVs can be watched at a closer distance without discomfort than 1366 x 768 TVs? Viewing distance of 12 feet is still large for screen size of 32 inch, since newer LCD TV displays great quality images with good colours and detail, you can even sit near for more immersive effect. You can calibrate or set TV brightness, contrast at levels which will most suitable for your viewing experience. As we said earlier there will be hardly noticeable difference between picture quality or detail in above Full HD (1920 x 1080) and HD Ready (1366 x 768) LCD TV models of 32 inch. You can even consider 32 inch HD Ready LCD TV. But it seems budget is not a problem to you, Sony - KLV-32W400A is an upcoming model, yet to be launched, while Samsung - LA32A650A1 is also good choice with improved dynamic contrast ratio and 4 HDMI Inputs retailed for Rs 68,000. Around that price range you also have choice of Samsung-LA37A550P1 which is 37 inch Full HD LCD TV.

Choice of water purifier will depend upon source of water and its TDS levels. If you are preferring municipal water for drinking which may be from open source like river will have relatively lower TDS levels (below 500 mg/ltr), then any budget ultra filteration or UV water purifier is good. In case of well water, you will have to check its TDS level, if it is higher than 500 Mg/Ltr then RO (Reverse Osmosis) purifier is advised.
