You can look for brands like Samsung, Whirlpool, LG, etc. Models with polypropylene or plastic tub are available with the features required. There are models with delay start feature or timers. Samsung - LA32A650A1 has shiny-glossy finish, that why it appears to be having reflective/glaring effect when not in operation. It should work without any problem. Check the cable at your friends place with different set of TV and DVD/DVD HTS or try different cable at your place. Use HDMI IN 1 jack, for such connection and select right source, hope it works otherwise call up company and get it checked by service professional.
