This format sounds as good as the MP3 audio format and stores audio at half the bit rate (and therefore half the file size).

Dolby Digital EX
Dolby Digital EX is based on standard Dolby Digital technology but includes an extra back surround channel, making it a 6.1 format. Enables you to enjoy the digital sound experience through a couple of extra surround speakers with standard left and right surround channels.

5.1-Channel Analog Audio Outputs
Refers to the use of five audio channels—front left, center and right, surround left and right plus a subwoofer channel. Allows to hook up a separate multi-channel surround sound (Dolby Digital, DTS) decoder. You have 6.1 and 7.1 channels also available today.
