Vacuum Cleaners
TYPE OF BRUSHES
Regardless of what type of vacuum cleaner you choose, make sure it comes with all the various types of brushes available. The most common ones are:

Swivel brush – cleans floors and carpets effectively as it is flexible. It can also be used for curtains. Floor and Carpet Brush – this is especially for the floor and carpet.

Audio, video and computer brush – The audio, computer and video brush can be effectively used for cleaning audio systems, computers, keyboards as well as video systems.

Radiator brush – The radiator brush is used for cleaning the radiator grills, air conditioning ducts, window blinds and speakers.

All surface cleaner brush – This is used for cleaning stubborn dirt from all surfaces such as windowsills, lampshades etc.

TYPE OF NOZZLES
Here too, models and brands notwithstanding, you need to ensure that the vacuum cleaner comes with the various nozzles. The most common ones are Crevice Nozzle, Upholstery Nozzle, Jet Air Nozzle and Gulper Nozzle. The crevice nozzle is very useful for those difficult corners you just couldn't reach like wall corners, floor skirting, corners of bookshelves, the back of a painting, car crevices, etc. An upholstery nozzle is useful for the various upholstery such as you pillow covers, curtains, bed and sofa covers. It can also be used to clean your woollen garments, suit jackets, etc.

Matching the type of vacuum cleaner to the cleaning task

To deep clean your carpeted floors, you need a vacuum cleaner with plenty of airflow and a revolving brush roll, which will agitate the fibres to aid in removing dirt and grit particles. Canisters with power nozzles meet this requirement, and also give a newer, fresher appearance to the carpets.

Wooden, vinyl and ceramic tile floors need a floor-brush with soft bristles and concentrated airflow to pick up small dirt and stones, which are heavy compared to their small surface areas. The dusting brush, upholstery nozzle and crevice tool used for cleaning all "above the floor" areas, as well as the floor brush and rug tool are used as attachments on the end of a hose and wands.

It is the canister vacuum with its strong suction, which does the perfect clean up job. To reach the corners of your car seats, sofas etc., which a canister can't reach–you'll need a Handy cleaner. These vacuum cleaners can reach around and clean corners much better.

A vacuum cleaner helps you clean your house without breaking your back and hopefully, this guide will help you make a decision without breaking your head too much. For more information on the vacuum cleaners available in the market, click here.
