The toy car in the park is a great subject to hone your skills in photography. Since the light was low at that time, I could get a slow shutter speed of 1/15 seconds, ideal for a perfect pan shot. Had I shot without flash, it would have resulted in a blurred subject, and had I used the normal flash, it could have underexposed the background, eliminating the beauty of a blur. So my only option was to use the slow sync mode. I adjusted the focus on Continuous mode and waited patiently. A couple of test shots with the cars over and I spotted the mother-child duo approaching. I started tracking them with the shutter release half-pressed. Then just when they were at the right angle, I clicked, still panning for some distance. And I have to say, the D40 didn't disappoint me a bit. The focus tracking proved accurate, and the slow sync perfect to give a fairly sharp image. The focusing was fast and precise with the AF-S lens. In short, I captured the image exactly the way I wanted to.
