Apple iPhone 2
This year should see the successor to the original iPhone. The rumour market is already abuzz with what it is likely to be. Speculation has it that the phone will get a significant memory boost (up to 20 GB), a better camera (with zoom and 3.2 megapixel) as well as a host of applications that might even add an enterprise dimension to the device. Of course, 3G, (we were supposed to see it at Macworld this year) will boost surfing speed and downloads. Maybe, we will see an extraordinary GPS addition, an office suite or…well, let's just wait and watch.

BlackBerry Touchscreen
The Blackberry is the latest platform to get allured by the touchscreen. We are eagerly waiting for the BlackBerry device featuring a touchscreen rather than the trademark QWERTY keypad. While BlackBerry loyalists are confident the device will upstage even the iPhone, cynics are pointing out that RIM’s software might not be conducive to ‘touch therapy’ and the touchscreen is merely a stunt to justify a higher price tag. If BlackBerry can pull it off, it might just revolutionise the enterprise phone segment, just as it did with push mail not so long ago.

Sony PlayStation Phone
Sony is keeping its lips sealed about this one but indications are the electronics behemoth is once again eyeing the mobile gaming segment, and this time is likely to extend the PlayStation brand to a cellphone. Unlike the N-Gage device, this one is not expected to be totally touchscreen, although it will have keys specially designed for gaming and also an all-new D-pad that can be used as a joystick! The rumour mills are busy speculating about whether Sony will sell games on memory cards or make them downloadable from a special portal. One thing is certain – it will certainly rock in the multimedia department.
