Exposure CompensationUse this feature if you are sure that the meter is going to over or under expose the scene. For example, in back-lit situations (when the light is coming from the back of the subject), it is always desirable to give a +1 or + 1.5 compensation so that your subject is exposed correctly.
The accompanying photograph was taken in a tricky situation. Since white is dominant in the frame, any metering could have underexposed the scene. So I configured an exposure compensation of +1.5 EV to get both black and white correctly exposed. The situation is similar while capturing a snowy
landscape.
