CABLESThe wiring for your home entertainment system and your car system are vastly different. This is because at home, you have a power supply of 240 watts whereas in a car the supply is only 12 watts. So to ensure quality sound output you need to thicker cables that can carry higher capacity of current. A basic car audio system may not need a separate cable kit. You can make do with the in-built cables. But a mid-range as well as competition systems require more power and special audio cables, so a cable kit becomes necessary. A good high-end cable kit comprising power and audio cables will cost you about Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 and you can pick from any of the leading brands like JBL, Monster, Tsunami or Ichibaan. However if you don’t wish to spend a couple of thousands only on cables then you can also make do with OFC power cables, which are available at most automotive power shops and MX-RCA audio cables. These will cost you anywhere between Rs 500- Rs 800. Of the two, the audio cable is more important as it is responsible for transmitting data from your HU to the amplifier and ultimately the speaker.
With cables you need to take special care when buying as there are plenty of clones available. These are dirt-cheap but come at a heavy compromise on quality, wear out easily and can lead to distorted sound output.
Note for the competition level, you will need to invest in extra batteries as the power supplied in the car will not be sufficient.
