You can choose a fully automatic from either a top loader or a front loader variety. Though there is hardly any manual intervention, you have to select and set the wash programmes.

Detergent and bleach/softener dispensers
Controls located on front panel permit installing some models under a standard 36-inch tall kitchen counter.

Disadvantages:
Expensive. (Front-loaders cost more than top-loaders due to heftier suspension systems, motors and door gaskets.)
Front-loaders require specially formulated detergents not yet widely available.
