Top reigning kitchen supremos to choose from

The portable stove is an archaic tool. The tabletop cooking range has been a reigning 'progression' of this kitchen appliance that only a revolutionary appliance could have saved. Hence came along the much hyped cooking range.

Cooking ranges became a slight distraction for many. Those who experimented with cooking at home, decided to go in for one because it came along with an oven and grill. Being able to bake cakes, grill food, heat refrigerated food, etc became less of a task. And the owner obviously, totally enjoyed it!

Then, the utility took over the urban population. While most were worried about their purchase costs, other decided to pick convenience. Prices for a cooking range were much higher than an air conditioner back then. Those buying on a budget now, can get a cooking range for just Rs 12,500. The Glen-GL 2011BL is currently available with a pilot-ignition cooking range with four gas burners and an oven with a gas heating system. It has separate oven and grill compartments and an oven capacity of 62.6 litres. This cooking range is also available with auto ignition option.

For those who want an electric heating system, the options are more. Sunflame has about three models of such make. The Sunflame-Exotica GTSS , Sunflame-Exotica-Super Dx TRB GTSS and the Sunflame-Exotica-TRB GTSS are available for Rs 18,800, Rs 21,900 and Rs 18,800 respectively. The Sunflame-Exotica GTSS cooking range has an automatic (pilot) ignition system with three gas burners and an oven with an electric heating system. It has separate oven and grill compartments and an oven capacity of 41 litres. They also have features like interior light, rotisserie and safety switch. Sunflame-Exotica-Super Dx TRB GTSS and the Sunflame-Exotica-TRB GTSS additionally come with an hot plate and an interior light.

Kaff-K/CEL 90 SS and the Faber HeatKraft-EV 2631 A1DTX are available for Rs 61,990 and Rs 38,990. The Kaff-K/CEL 90 SS cooking ranges come with an automatic ignition system with five gas burners and an oven with an electric heating system. It has a combined oven and grill compartment with a capacity of 117.3 litres. It also has an interior light, rotisserie and timers. This cooking range has burners with triple flame. Its top cover is removable which makes it easy to clean.

While the Faber HeatKraft-EV 2631 A1DTX has automatic ignition system with three gas burners, a hot plate and an oven with an electric heating system. It has combined oven and grill compartments with a capacity of 53 litres. Also included are features like interior light and timer. It has brass burners one triple ring burner, a large, medium burner and a hot plate.

You can also have a look at models form Elba which has a variety of models ranging from Rs 24,900 to Rs 54,312. All these models come with a combined oven and grill chamber.

A cooking range has become the most basic kitchen appliance for years now. Yet, many in urban India are still reluctant to take the plunge since they already own microwave ovens that can also grill independent of cooking ranges. Despite this, most new homes on the market, make architectural space for the cooking range in kitchens.
