The journey started from a watch repair shop establishment. With a flourishing clientele, setting up a showroom was not difficult. Maharashtra Watch & Gramophone company was founded in 1929, primarily as a watch company but soon forayed into the business of selling gramophones. Gravitating, thereafter, to electronics, especially for products dabbling in music wasn’t an unnatural thing to do. In the 60s, the store became a very important dealer for Philips, because at that time radio had made inroads into Indian homes. Soon after the radio came in the tape-recorder, two-in-one, sterosystem, followed by CD and VCD players.

The store focuses on DVD players, audio systems, TVs, two- in-one tape recorders, Walkmans, Discmans etc, other than stocking cassettes, CDs and DVDs.

Having moved with the time, the store has also started stocking products that are highly in demand such as cell phones and digital cameras.

Brands in the store are a plateful – most prominent ones being Philips and Samsung. Popular brands DVD players include LG, Mitashi, Onida, Philips, Moser Baer, Philips. Most sought after TV brands include LG, Philips, Samsung, Onida, Sony, Panasonic. Apart from this the store also houses mobile phones of Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Fly, etc as well as washing machines of Whirlpool, Samsung, etc.
