Weight loss 2008Is losing love handles or no drinking your new year’s resolution? While many of us here too are striving at it, we thought it would be good to start the year with some juice from the world of electronics. This year, notebooks too have resolved to shed some weight – thanks to
Panasonic’s announcement of an ultra-thin Blu-ray disc. The built-in optical drive is reportedly 0.37 inch think and one of Panasonic’s marvels to be showcased in the first of the biggest annual electronics show of the year –
CES 2008. Highpoint you may ask? Storage worth 50 GB and its capability to read and write high-def DVDs in Blu-ray format. Wait for the competitors to answer back!
Turn the wheel After the much-talked about prototype
27-inch OLED, Sony has turned to hand-out digital cameras powered by the strength of your hand! A wheel of sorts (reminds me of the Polo Mint-with-the-Hole!) needs to be turned to snap quick shots. Aptly called Twirl- n-Take, this hand-crank belongs to Sony’s lineup of prototypes skewed toward environmental concerns.

2007, clearly, has been the year of
touchscreens in mobile phones and seems like 2008 is poised to be a leap forward in this direction with the supposed entry of touchscreen displays in 12-inch notebooks by the latter half of the year. Watch out for surprises from AU Optronics.
