Telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam announced that it would be offering mobile TV services for handset owners after field trial operations for the same are complete.
"We have tied up with a technology partner, who is carrying out the field trials. Our service would comprise an offering of 21 channels," MTNL Executive Director J Gopal said.
This apart, MTNL also launched Express alert, which is a value-added service for its Dolphin and Trump mobile subscribers. This value-added subscription service offers updates on astrology, cricket scores, news and stock.
MTNL's plans, claims the company, is to ensure the launch of one value-added service every month.
With the tariff coming down, there has been a loss in revenues for telecom operators, which is where the VAS has been plugged in. And with the growing demand for VAS, the market is proliferating with services, which telecom operators are providing in collaboration with their tie-up partners.
